ABC Storytime

What a great group of friends today! Lots of great interactions on each individual's level and comfort! And everyone stuck around to socialize and play afterwards!

Today: ABCs! I borrowed the ABCs & 123s Kit from IFLS

Welcome Song (from JBrary)

Book: Henry Finds His Word by Lindsay Ward

Felt: BINGO (we clapped and said the letter sound)

Felt: Each kid was given a letter. I did half of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom with the props. When it was their letter, they could bring it up and put on the tree.

Book: AlphaBlock

Song: Can't Wait to Celebrate by Jim Gill - with eggs

Activity: We made our bodies into a few different letters, inspired by Alphabet Fun

Activity: I demonstrated with each kid the alphabet tube then each kid went home with their own tube and a bunch of stickers!

Goodbye Songs

For Social Hour:
Leftover from our Scribble Party - stop in to create your own masterpiece!

Frog on a Log is still out, too!

ABC book display - I always have books out related to that week's storytime theme. Check them out :)

Cottonball Painting

Continue exploring Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!

Book: When Lions Roar by Robie H. Harris

Book: Tickle Monster by Manceau

Fingerplay/poem: Little Mouse Felt (by your's truly)

Goodbye Songs and Bubbles

At Social Hour we had:
This is actually one of our self-directed programs right now :) Come make your own rhymes anytime you come in!

Billy Goats Gruff

My Body - October 7

We actually did not have anybody come this day, but this is what I had planned. I will re-use a few things for an upcoming Being Healthy Storytime

Welcome Song (again from Jbrary) only this time we would have cut out the "read together" and added "dance together" with the scarves.

Book: I Love You, Nose to Toes!

Song: We Clap Our Hands by Jim Gill with egg shakers

Book: Tickle Monster by Edouard Manceau

Movement: Your Body Has Lots of Bones (song i came up with - will post in a few weeks)

Book: Wild Feelings by David Milgrim

Song: Toe Leg Knee by Jim Gill

Book: My Nose, Your Nose by Melanie Walsh
Action: Tickle Your.... i would have had adults/kids take turns tickling the other person's toes, elbows, hair, etc.

Goodbye Songs

For Social Hour I was going to have adults trace their children then they could color and add stickers to their body outline.

Current Passive Programming at FCPL

Many, many thanks to our Friends Group and to Fall Creek Area Foundation for providing funds to allow us to bring more ways to connect together at FCPL. Due to their generosity, we were able to purchase a brand-new new book display and an awesome dramatic play area!
Come check out our new books... in their new display!

Pizza Parlor play area

You should also come check out other great things going on right now in the Library.

Jack and the Beanstalk, inspired by this pin I found on Pinterest. The stalk is filling up fast with lots of little people! Can you find the giant??

And the Collaborative Crossword. Each clue is about Fall Creek! Located in the Young Adult Area. Come help us complete it!

100 Cup Structure

It's tall! It takes patience! It's unique! It is loud when it falls down! :)

Our latest play table is 100 CUP STRUCTURE! It literally took 30 seconds for kids to start playing with it once I had it all set up. I'm excited to see the pictures the kids take of their creations.

I plan to put up a sign near this activity advertising our next Homeschool Club meeting as we will do 3D art and architecture activities.

I am not sure how long I will leave this up. The cups are plastic, so if somebody is too rough on them, they won't last very long. We'll also see what my co-workers say about the noise after a while... or maybe put a rug underneath the table ;)

Up Close with Trees

The current Library Playtable is a self-directed microscope activity.

Kids can look through the microscope at different woodland items: bark, fern, leaves, pine needles, a pine cone.

Then they can write about or draw what they saw.

The kids have been having great fun with it!

When I first put it out....

This is what the first page looks like now! We have 3 pages filled up!
