What a great group of friends today! Lots of great interactions on each individual's level and comfort! And everyone stuck around to socialize and play afterwards!

Today: ABCs! I borrowed the ABCs & 123s Kit from IFLS

Book: Henry Finds His Word by Lindsay Ward

Felt: BINGO (we clapped and said the letter sound)

Felt: Each kid was given a letter. I did half of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom with the props. When it was their letter, they could bring it up and put on the tree.

Book: AlphaBlock

Song: Can't Wait to Celebrate by Jim Gill - with eggs

Activity: We made our bodies into a few different letters, inspired by Alphabet Fun

Activity: I demonstrated with each kid the alphabet tube then each kid went home with their own tube and a bunch of stickers!

Colors Storytime

Hello Song with scarves today












Book: A Rainbow of My Own by Don Freeman












Song: What is the Color? I borrowed this from The Mailbox, issue Aug/Sept 2014. I switched up some of the lyrics, but not too much. It is to the tune of BINGO.

What is the color of the a plum?
(Have them guess then show the colored paper) Why purple is it's name-o!

Purple is it's name-o.

Sun - yellow

Leaf - green

Rose - red

Snow - white

Bat - black

Book: GO! GO! GO! STOP! by Charise Mercile Harper The kids helped me with the "go" and "stop" parts throughout the book. What a great book! It really got them involved!

Stop & Go activity with a felt traffic light.
We played the game similar to Mother May I/Red Light Green Light, only all kids could go when I held up the green circle, then stopped when I help up the red one. I prompted them the first time and then didn't talk at all the second time. What fun!







Interactive Story: Is It Red? Is It Yellow? Is It Blue? by Tana Hoban. I asked them different questions about the pages - colors, amount, what are they doing, etc.

Felt song: Brown Skunk, Brown Skunk

Similar to "Brown Bear, Brown bear what do you see?" only with different colored skunks. I passed out the skunks and when I sang out their color, they brought it up to show everyone by placing it on the feltboard.

Goodbye Songs and Bubbles

Activity: Spray Painting

I put water and paint into spray bottles. The kids took turns writing their name on a piece of paper the painting with the spray bottle. They turned out so unique and fantastic!!

Pizza Storytime October 16, 2013

Thank you to Pizza Hut, Pizza Plus, Toppers, Mancinos, and Pizza del Ray for donating pizza boxes. We used them so every child could go home with their very own "I am a Pizza" storyboard.

Welcome song: Hello, How are You? by Dr. Jean. Again, because of flu and cold season, instead of shaking hands, we wave hands.

Fingerplay: Little Pizzas
1 little 2 little 3 little pizzas
4 little 5 little 6 little pizzas
7 little 8 little 9 little pizzas.
10 pizzas in the oven.
10 little 9 little 8 little pizza
7 little 6 little 5 little pizzas
4 little 3 little 2 little pizzas
1 pizza in my stomach.

Feltboard and Song: I am a Pizza by Charlotte Diamond
Instead of listening to the CD, we sang is as a repeat and answer song. We did it twice so each child had an opportunity to bring a piece of the pizza up front to the feltboard. Also, Jenna's French is very fuzzy so we did not sing the French lyrics.

Before the song, I held up each letter card and we practiced the sound that letter makes. During the song, I held up the appropriate letter card. The letters are: P, B, M, L, R, Z, Y.

Book: Hi, Pizza Man by Virgina Walter
During the story, the children took turns dinging a bell while everyone else sang out "Ding, dong" like a doorbell. It worked out perfectly; we had the exact number of children this day as there are times to ring the doorbell in the story.

Then I passed out the pizza boxes. Each pizza box included the words to "I am a Pizza" by Charlotte Diamond, pictures of the pizza ingredients for them to cut out, and they got to choose which color brown they liked their crust (construction paper).
