Storytime began again today! A big Happy New Year to our Library families. Do not forget: starting in February, we will now offer an afternoon Storytime on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Storytime will begin at 3:30pm. All afternoon storytimes will be a repeat of the morning storytime's activities. If you are busy in the morning, stop by in the afternoon! School-aged children are welcome.
January 11 Storytime: Clothing
Everybody wears clothing! There are clothes for your feet, your seat, your toes and nose! Clothes for outdoor play, work, and sleeping! Some animals even wear clothes! This is what we did today:
Counting Rope
Sign of the day: clothes http://www.aslpro.com/cgi-bin/aslpro/aslpro.cgi
Hello Song: We have a new one! Hello, How are You by Dr. Jean
Max's New Suit by Rosemary Wells
Song: Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes by Diane Taraz
This version adds a fun new verse (ankles, elbows, feet and seat..) that was fun and amusing!
Joseph Had a Little Overcoat by Simms Taback. First we read Taback's story. Then, using Indianhead Federated Library System's Joseph doll, we acted out the story. Children took turns changing Joseph's clothes as they got "old and worn." What a hit!
Song: Goofy Hat Dance by Greg & Steve. I brought in various hats. We danced around, wearing hats and making goofy faces!
Blue hat, Green hat by Sandra Boynton. Each time the turkey appeared, the children gobble gobbled.
Animals Should Definetely NOT Wear Clothing by Judi Barret
Goodbye Songs: Big Books then The Other Day I Read a Book
Next Week: January 18 is National Thesaurus Day. We'll take a look at different words that mean the same thing!
