National Chicken Month Storytime

Today was our first Fall 2012 Storytime! Welcome back to storytime, everyone! We had a smaller crowd today, which is fine. Hopefully more will return next week.

Our setlist for today went as follows:

Hello Song: Hello, How are You? by Dr. Jean

Chicken Butt! by Erica S. Perl

Laurie Berkner's song I Know a Chicken with egg shakers and maracas (I really should get on re-gluing the rest of my egg shakers!)

Big Chickens Go to Town by Leslie Helakoski

I Had a Rooster song by Greg and Steve with printed feltboard animals. We did the song once while I placed the animals. The second time around, the children put the animals on the feltboard.

We did not have time for The Rowdy Rooster by Janine Scott :(

Chicken, Pig, Cow and the Purple Problem by Ruth Ohi. If you scroll down, you'll see a post with a purple cow. I had gray, brown, and dark brown felt scraps the children placed on the cow throughout the story. Then I shook the cow off at the part of the story and the scraps flew everywhere. It was great!

Chicken Butt's back! by Erica S. Perl

NEW Goodbye Songs!: It is Time to Say Goodbye by Dr. Jean

Spoken goodbye song: Wave your elbow goodbye. Wave your knee goodbye. Wave your foot goodbye. Wave your chin goodbye. Wave your eye goodbye. Wave your ear goodbye. Wave your hands and say, "Goodbye!"

After handing out stickers, the children were able to play with some rubber chickens I personally own.

Next week: Noisy Stories (be prepared!!)
